Food is meant to be enjoyed and yet so many of us gobble it down quickly — often because we’re constantly on the go and short on time. The trouble is, those habits can lead to possible overeating, and meals turn into a chore. That’s why we started a chew challenge. Want to participate? Just chew your food slower…try for 30 chews per bite. It’s not easy because it’s not what most of us are used to, but there are a lot of benefits to it.
Firstly, you’ll actually taste your food better, meaning, you’ll get more flavor. Often times, we don’t fully enjoy what we’re eating because it is swallowed too fast. And after spending time in the kitchen (which is encouraged!) you deserve to fully enjoy your creation. Same goes for when you’re dining out with friends and family – it’s about enjoying life food in addition to what’s on the plate – that time is precious and should not be rushed.
An extra perk is possible weight loss. We’re all for eating until satisfaction, but when you chew your food slower, your brain has more time to register what’s being digested and ultimately, you may feel full with less. You’ll lose that stuffed, ‘I ate too much’ feeling too. And that all in itself, can be worth a lot.
So we dare you to take us up on a chew challenge, see how you feel and share your experience with us. We bet you’ll end up feeling a whole lot better.
